EDF Luminus strengthens its position to increase its expertise in energy efficiency

In order to obtain the means required to continue its growth and increase its competitiveness, EDF Luminus Solutions – one of the companies of the EDF Luminus group – will in the future enjoy the support of Dalkia.  This strong partner will acquire 49% of the capital of EDF Luminus Solutions.

EDF Luminus continues its development of energy efficiency services with the ambition to become the main energy partner of its customers.

Meeting the energy efficiency needs

Several business customers, in particular in the public sector, are looking for an energy partner to upgrade and maintain their technical installations on a long-term basis and to guarantee improvement of their energy efficiency. In order to meet these needs, EDF Luminus created a new company, EDF Luminus Solutions, in August of last year, following the acquisition of Vanparijs Engineers. This new energy services provider is responsible for the technical management of its B2B customers’ buildings (administrative centres, schools, sports facilities, public housing, industry) on the basis of an energy performance contract (EPC).

This year, the company achieved its first success thanks to the conclusion of the very first multi-site energy performance contract with the social housing organisation "Le Foyer Anderlechtois" in Brussels. The purpose of this cooperation is to increase the energy efficiency of 2,400 social housing units (houses and flats).

The best of two worlds for increasingly innovative services

Dalkia is one of the leading providers of energy services in France and has therefore acquired a vast and acknowledged experience in several fields such as the management of heating systems and their low-carbon transformation by introducing renewable energy and energy by-product solutions, the construction, operation and maintenance of highly efficient co-generation installations, energy performance contracts and the continuous search for energy savings e.g. through the renovation of buildings. EDF Luminus on its part boasts a strong local presence and a vast B2B customer base.  The combination of these assets will allow the company to access this market, consolidate relations with customers through long-term contracts and offer them increasingly innovative energy efficiency services.

This combination will also generate business for the existing subsidiaries, as EDF Luminus Solutions will continue to work closely together with Dauvister, a company specialised in the installation of efficient heating systems using renewable energy; ATS, a distributor of electric material that also offers complete integrated solutions for electricity and heating to customers from the industrial, tertiary and public sector in Flanders; and the group Vanparijs Engineers, an agency with vast experience in the field of engineering, building sites and the maintenance of co-generation facilities and MUPS installations.

Raoul Nihart, CEO of EDF Luminus Solutions: “This acquisition of a participating interest by Dalkia is a confirmation of the cooperation that came about several months ago by the signing of the multi-site energy performance contract with Foyer Anderlechtois. It constitutes an important step in the development of EDF Luminus Solutions, which we applaud.”
