Local residents are informed
Tonight, EDF Luminus will inform the residents and local authorities of its plans to build 5 wind turbines in the industrial park of Feluy, nearby the rue de Ghellerée in Ecaussinnes. During this meeting, those involved will be informed about the standard procedure and the planned environmental impact study. This study will be conducted by an independent consultancy and will take into account the remarks from local residents. The results will be made available to the public and the parties involved.
Positif impact on environment
When fully operational, the 8 wind turbines will supply 10,600 households with 42,500,000 kWh of electricity per annum. This will offset 19,000 tons of CO2 emissions of a conventional coal-fired power station. This is equivalent to preventing the emissions of 8,000 cars (1) or 3,500 homes (2). The maximum installed capacity of each wind turbine is 3.5 MW. During periods of no wind, peaking power plants will be run to meet electricity demand.
Historically a green energy producer and supplier
EDF Luminus has invested in the production of renewable energy for over sixty years. Over 17% of its energy production comes from renewable sources of Belgian origin. EDF Luminus is an ambitious market player in the wind power industry. With a total of 120 wind turbines, EDF Luminus generates 596 GWh of energy each year. This is equivalent to the energy consumption of about 150,000 households.
